-It is based on the assumption that people fully consider their plans before acting on them.
-People know fully the push factors of their origin environment because of their own experiences, however, the pull factors are perceived in that people do not necessarily fully know what life will be like in their destination.
-The model also suggests that people consider intervening obstacles in reaching their destination.
