Low Income Housing in HK
You are required to create a mini-report and build a model about 1 type of low income housing in Hong Kong.
You must follow the link below to research a type of housing. Each group will do a different type.
http://goo.gl/W3Qt9f
• First you must go through the website and choose a type of housing that interests you.
Criterion B
- Secondly, you must create an action plan on how you will research it. The action plan must include the following:
- What questions you would like to know about the low income housing.
- About the people living there: age, income, education, job / Why they live there?
- About the place: What’s it like living there? How big is it? What problems people have there?
- About the location: Where it is? Why are they built there? What kind of building is it?
- About the problems and dangers: Is it dangerous to live there? What problems would you have
with living there?
- You should decide how to build the model and what materials you will use and draw up a plan or
design. - You should decide who will do which task. Remember that some people are better at things than
others.
Criterion A
- Next you will need to present the information that you have collected.
- Answer the questions and build your model.
- The detail that you put into your report and your model will determine your mark.
Criterion D
- Your model must be neatly put together and include all relevant pieces. You don’t need to actually get the pieces if you can’t. If you can’t find or make the pieces, just label neatly.
- Irrelevant pieces will lose marks (ex. Wide screen tv in a factory flat.)
- Your information must be clearly structured.
• You must have a list of resources and sources you’ve used in MLA format in alphabetical order.
• EASYBIB.COM
Work together and encourage each other. One person should take charge and people should attempt the complete the work that they are best at. (ex. Steven may be best at building models and Johnny best at finding information. So they will do those jobs.)
Make sure you cover the following:
- What is it? Explain this type of housing/ Background information/ are they legal/ illegal?
- Why do people live here?
- How much do people spend to live here? What % of their income?
- Why do they prefer this to other options such as government housing?
- List the districts where they are located. Compare the apace and prices of these homes to the prices to rent a small apartment in these areas. Draw your own conclusions. [Look on spacious or other property websites for HK]
- Dangers and Benefits of living in such properties.
- Problems faced and their solutions
- Who is responsible to help people who live like this? Explain how: for example, if you believe the government should help them, explain how? Where do you think the government should get the money from?
